Dr. Panos Trahanias Panos Trahanias is a Professor with the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete, Greece and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). In the past he has been affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Canada, and was a consultant to SPAR Aerospace Ltd., Toronto. Since 1993 he is with the University of Crete and FORTH. Currently, he is the head of the Computational Vision and Robotics Laboratory (CVRL) at FORTH, engaged in research and RTD projects in brain-inspired artificial systems with emphasis on time perception and processing, autonomous robotic navigation and computational vision. Prof. Panos Trahanias has published extensively and has acted as coordinator, scientific coordinator and principal scientist of many successful EU and National projects. He has significant expertise in exploiting the market potential of state-of-the-art research achievements and he is co-founder of a CVRL spin-off / start-up in the ICT sector.
